This month saw the Durban High Court hand down judgment in the Cato Manor Indian Cemetery case. The matter pertained to legal standing in public interest litigation. It was a small but important legal victory for me and the community at large. But the legal battle is far from over.
The historic Cato Manor Indian Cemetery was desecrated and infilled with rubble to establish a freight logistics container yard. The logistics company has been operating from the burial grounds from around 2010 in terms of a lease with the Cato Manor Indian Cemetery and Crematorium Association.
